Each month from now until the end of December we are giving back to the community. We're calling it the "Power of 30" and will need your help to contribute.

For September we are looking to save 30 lives by donating blood. We will have the BUS at the HBA and we are still working on the date. Please check back.

We are also looking for monetary donations in the amount of $91 from local businesses or families that can afford to participate. This will be distributed to the Family Life Center, Christmas Come True and Gratitude America (Veterans).

It’s time to sign up for the Palm Coast & the Flagler Beaches Senior Games.

Local residents will now have the opportunity to compete in the annual Senior Games close to home! The Palm Coast & the Flagler Beaches Senior Games – presented by Florida Hospital Care Advantage – will be held Sept. 13 to 20, offering competition in a dozen sports.



The Seniors Games are open to men and women ages 50 and up. Registration is $15 and includes a T-shirt and participation in one sports event; participation in each additional sports event is $5.



“Supporting the Senior Games is a wonderful way of promoting healthy and active lifestyles while supporting our community,” said Jamie Forrest, Vice President, Florida Hospital Care Advantage, presenting sponsor of the event.

The Palm Coast Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary announce the annual “Patriots Pen” youth essay competition and the “Voice of Democracy” scholarship competition. Both programs are open to students who are enrolled in a public, private, or parochial school or home study program in Flagler County. These competitions are dedicated to promote patriotism.

The Patriots Pen Youth Essay is open to students in grades 6 - 8. The patriotic theme for the 2014-2015 program is “Why I Appreciate America‘s Veterans”. This essay must be no less than 300 words and cannot exceed 400 words. The first place national award is $5,000.00 plus an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C.

The Voice of Democracy patriotic theme for this year is “Why Veterans are Important to Our Nation’s History and Future”. This competition is open to students in grades 9 - 12. Students compete by writing and recording their submission on CD. The submission must be an original 3 - 5 minute recording. The top national scholarship awarded will be $30,000.00.

Entries start at the local level and should be submitted to VFW Post 8696 along with a completed entry form. November 1, 2014 is the deadline for submission for each entry. Winners then advance to the VFW District (regional) level, and then to the VFW department (state) level. One first place district winner at the department level then advances into the National competition for the national prizes.

Participants thus far will include: Flagler Youth Orchestra, Flagler County Art League, Flagler Fine Art Festivals, City Repertory Theatre, Flagler Playhouse, Flagler School of Dance, The Choral Arts Society, City Lites, Flagler County School District Fine Arts Departments, City of Palm Coast, Flagler County Chamber and the Flagler County Tourist Development Council, all of whom will join forces to showcase the quality and diversity of creative talent in Flagler County. In 2010, Congress proclaimed the second week in September as National Arts in Education Week. The Alzheimer’s Resource Council, along with Visiting Angels, will offer a free memory screening at Visiting Angels in Palm Coast on September 18th, 2014 from 2pm to 5pm.

“We are inviting anyone that thinks they may be having memory issues to attend this event for a free memory screening,” said President of The Alzheimer’s Resource Council, and Director/Co-Owner of Visiting Angels Medwin Nazif.

Alzheimer’s is a type of dementia that causes problems with memory, thinking and behavior. Symptoms usually develop slowly and worsen over time, becoming severe enough to interfere with daily tasks. The Palm Coast Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary announce the annual “Patriots Pen” youth essay competition and the “Voice of Democracy” scholarship competition. Both programs are open to students who are enrolled in a public, private, or parochial school or home study program in Flagler County. These competitions are dedicated to promote patriotism.

The Patriots Pen Youth Essay is open to students in grades 6 - 8. The patriotic theme for the 2014-2015 program is “Why I Appreciate America‘s Veterans”. This essay must be no less than 300 words and cannot exceed 400 words. The first place national award is $5,000.00 plus an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C.

The Voice of Democracy patriotic theme for this year is “Why Veterans are Important to Our Nation’s History and Future”. This competition is open to students in grades 9 - 12. Students compete by writing and recording their submission on CD. The submission must be an original 3 - 5 minute recording. The top national scholarship awarded will be $30,000.00.

Entries start at the local level and should be submitted to VFW Post 8696 along with a completed entry form. November 1, 2014 is the deadline for submission for each entry. Winners then advance to the VFW District (regional) level, and then to the VFW department (state) level. One first place district winner at the department level then advances into the National competition for the national prizes.

The Palm Coast Veterans of Foreign Wars and its Ladies Auxiliary announce the annual “Patriots Pen” youth essay competition and the “Voice of Democracy” scholarship competition. Both programs are open to students who are enrolled in a public, private, or parochial school or home study program in Flagler County. These competitions are dedicated to promote patriotism.

The Patriots Pen Youth Essay is open to students in grades 6 - 8. The patriotic theme for the 2014-2015 program is “Why I Appreciate America‘s Veterans”. This essay must be no less than 300 words and cannot exceed 400 words. The first place national award is $5,000.00 plus an all-expense paid trip to Washington, D.C.

The Voice of Democracy patriotic theme for this year is “Why Veterans are Important to Our Nation’s History and Future”. This competition is open to students in grades 9 - 12. Students compete by writing and recording their submission on CD. The submission must be an original 3 - 5 minute recording. The top national scholarship awarded will be $30,000.00.

Entries start at the local level and should be submitted to VFW Post 8696 along with a completed entry form. November 1, 2014 is the deadline for submission for each entry. Winners then advance to the VFW District (regional) level, and then to the VFW department (state) level. One first place district winner at the department level then advances into the National competition for the national prizes.

Participants thus far will include: Flagler Youth Orchestra, Flagler County Art League, Flagler Fine Art Festivals, City Repertory Theatre, Flagler Playhouse, Flagler School of Dance, The Choral Arts Society, City Lites, Flagler County School District Fine Arts Departments, City of Palm Coast, Flagler County Chamber and the Flagler County Tourist Development Council, all of whom will join forces to showcase the quality and diversity of creative talent in Flagler County. In 2010, Congress proclaimed the second week in September as National Arts in Education Week. Flagler County is celebrating this designation to raise visibility of our local arts community and Arts in our school.
